An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Quality department at our Elgin headquarters. Working within the Quality team, the successful candidates will support the business in delivering world class woven products to some of the most prestigious global luxury brands.  

This is a full time, permanent position within our Quality department working Monday to Thursday 0800-1700 and Friday 0800-1200 (38 hours per week).

Salary is starting from £27,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Role Description:

The key areas of responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting some of our key accounts to deliver exceptional product, manufactured to the highest standards. 
  • Being the quality liaison with our sales team and directly with customers, to set quality standards for production and report on quality performance. 
  • Working with production teams to deliver improvements and smooth the implementation of new product into bulk production. 
  • Participating in the risk assessment process and sign off meetings for new products being launched, including organising the setup of relevant process and standards within the factory and with subcontractors. 
  • Liaising with and providing technical advice to design and production staff.
  • Monitor bulk performance in terms of handle, colour, continuity, performance standards, and compliance.
  • Johnstons are proud to be certified as Responsible Wool Standard and Sustainable Fibre Alliance textile processors, along with other industry certifications.  You will be expected to support these certifications through maintaining our internal systems and processes, liaising with external certification bodies and any relevant subcontractors. 
  • Collaborating with customers and production team members, to elevate the quality of our products and internal processes.

About You

The below are essential to the role:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent level of experience, preferably in Textiles.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, in particular MS Excel, MS Word & MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and switch between different tasks as required.
  • Ability to work independently of others and as part of a team.
  • Good colour vision.
  • Previous experience in a technologist role or experience working in woven textiles is desirable but not essential.
