Give your favourite teachers top marks in Heroes awards

January 22, 2020

In this year’s Moray & Banffshire Heroes, the awards for primary and secondary teachers of the year are being sponsored by DYW Moray and AJ Engineering.

The awards recognise teachers who have made a significant difference to the learning experience of their pupils.

DYW Moray which brings employers, young people and educators together is proud to be involved in the Moray & Banffshire Heroes Awards for a second year in a row. This year, the organisation headed by Sarah Baxter with support from Aimee Stephen is sponsoring primary school teacher of the year.

Sarah said: “We absolutely loved being involved in these awards last year and seeing just how many heroes our wonderful region has, so it was clear we would want to be part of this again.

“This year, we have chosen to sponsor primary school teacher of the year as part of our remit is to engage with pupils from the minute their education journey starts, and illustrate to them via various strategies what a broad spectrum of employment opportunities there are in this fabulous area. We urge everyone to get nominating and we look forward to meeting the winner at the awards ceremony.”

Investing in young people has always been part of the ethos of construction and fabrication company AJ Engineering which is why it is proud to be involved in the Moray & Banffshire Heroes Awards for 2020.

The Forres-based company which works on projects mainly in the UK, but has an ongoing project in Antarctica is delighted to be sponsoring secondary school teacher of the year and managing director Alan James explained why: “AJ Engineering is proud to have a great track record of investing in young people through various schemes including our apprenticeship programme which has been running for 20 years, indeed since the day the company was founded.

“At the heart of this has to be great teaching and support for young people at school level, so we are pleased to be part of this wonderful award which will recognise the dedication and hard work of teaching across the region.”
