For my workplace as part of DYW, I chose Elgin Youth Café because it’s such a nice and cheerful place for many young people.
I spoke with Peter Mutch, one of the employees about what the café does, what facilities it holds and what they do outside of the workplace.
We first off all talked about what goes on in the café. The café is run by young people which is full of activities for young people from primary school leaving age to high school leaving age. So they can enjoy and get away from the stress of exams and a way to socialise with other people of similar ages. The café also gives a platform for young adults who are thinking about starting to get into work by getting help with making a CV for future jobs.
We then went on to talked about what facilities it holds. The café holds a variety of facilities for instance they have their own cooking class called Ready Steady Cook, a reception area where you can get taste treats from drinks to sweets, a chill out zone with bean bags where you can relax and enjoy time with friends, DJ booth and equipment area from snooker to being able to play on a PS4 to having a blast listening to music.
Finally, we talked about what Elgin Youth Café does outside of its workplace. The café works alongside many business and schools in the Moray area - to name a few they work alongside Rotaract and Elgin Bid. The café also works with the local schools for instance Elgin High School and Elgin Academy.
The Elgin Youth Café is such a fantastic place to go to away from stress and just have fun many thanks to Peter for the Information.
