The DYW Moray Team has just completed the last leg of our Summer Roadshow 2017!
Whilst the Schools and College were on their Summer Break the DYW Moray team took the opportunity to visit 6 Moray towns including Forres, Lossiemouth, Fochabers, Aberlour, Buckie and Keith. This allowed the team to engage with young people, parents and businesses who may have not been able to visit the team in Elgin, thus we brought the team closer to home.
In each town, DYW Moray had businesses, parents and young people come to visit. Businesses were looking to find out more about how DYW Moray can assist them in engaging with Education. Also, a number of young people came along with their parents to seek advice regarding work experience, part-time work and apprenticeships. The team were able to refer them on to Skills Development Scotland for further Careers Advice and direct those looking for apprenticeships to the website, www.apprenticeships.scot. Furthermore, through utilising the team’s business contacts, we hope to fulfil any requests for work experience. Those young people who were looking for part-time work were referred on to the DYW Moray Facebook Page which shares any relevant work - young people focused.
At a number of the venues, DYW Moray were joined by Business Gateway and the Moray Chamber of Commerce who were both looking to engage with local organisations. It was also great to have Josie, the Moray Chamber's Career Ready Intern join us on a number of occasions as she was interested in Events Management thus, this gave her some exposure to organising and setting up the venue.
The team were delighted with the roadshow's success and hope to deliver this again next Summer.
